Direct Flight

Here’s a look at the flier I created for my 2007 showing at the Burlington International Airport in Burlington, Vermont. Following close on the heels of my Steadfast Devotion show, I only had a couple new pieces to add to this show. Be that as it may, I’ve still created an image gallery for this show because I’d like to introduce my working relationship with Burlington City Arts, and it was an honor to have work shown in such an important public location. It’s my hope for the future to continue showing large pieces in public places: a proud cultural tradition now largely marginalized by the over-saturation of advertising media.

Blueprint

24″x24″, photographic process print on Kodak Endura Metallic. Though arguably subject to dispute, I believe art is a form of visual and technical engineering. Planning a work, designing spatial relationships, constructing a visual narrative, and working with hues, tints and shades requires skills inherent in engineering, chemistry and mathematics (along with many other disciplines). Blueprint honors the skill involved in creation.

Hemispheres

30″x30″, printed in deeply saturated inks on archival-quality textured stock. I tremendously value the mechanical and engineering occupations which keep our vessels in operation in Sky and Sea. Working from the concept of ports and inter-connected networks, Hemispheres celebrates these occupations along with the vast infrastructure and circulatory systems necessary for moving our lives happily forward.
