ONE Community Festival Poster
Here’s a poster I designed for the ONE Community Festival and Tag Sale at Elspeth’s school, The Sustainability Academy. Featuring live music from Lokum Lite and the Hardscrabble Hounds, a solar-powered sound system, a rocket launch, soccer game, literacy activities, and plenty of free food, the event was a great success and loads of fun! Featuring a photo booth with Jordan Silverman, special guests The Rhythm Riderz, and much more, the party was a great event and lots of fun! OM Symbol Decals
Here’s a look at some recently completed custom die-cut vinyl decals. Created for my friends at One World In Concert (OWIC), these decals feature the OM symbol in full typographic dress embellished with impressive decorative elements. Set against a sparkling silver glitter background, these decals please the eye while advancing OWIC’s message of universal harmony and co-operation.
Sustainability Academy Decals
Here’s a look at a recently completed 2011 project. I designed these custom die-cut vinyl decals for our PTO at The Sustainability Academy in Burlington, VT. The quote is based on the words of respected theologian, Matthew Fox. The stickers will be sold around town and at school functions as a PTO fund-raiser.
Progression 01
Photographic-process print on Kodak Endura Metallic, sizes vary. We are a farm cultivated by the hand of the creator; A precious seed planted deep in the fertile cosmos. Burst forth and grow!
Cherry
Photographic-process print on Kodak Endura Metallic, sizes vary. A celebration of those all too rare moments in life when things seem to go just exactly as you planned or hoped for.
The Daily Planet
Here’s a look at the artwork we hung in the Daily Planet, a popular local restaurant, during the month of April, 2010. Admittedly, most of these works have been shown before in other locations, but the Daily Planet is definitely a wonderful and stylish place to show, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity!
Billion Bits
Photographic-process print on Kodak Endura Metallic, sizes vary. This image was put together for my show at Burlington’s Fletcher Free Library. Inspired by the library, A Billion Bits of Brilliance seeks to dramatize and celebrate the traditional collections of human knowledge (i.e. libraries, archives, athenaeums, etc.) as well as the bright future afforded knowledge by our glowing computer screens.
Taj Mahal
24″x24″, photographic-process print on Kodak Endura Metallic. The inspiration for Taj Mahal came to me in a flash early one morning, and has remained one of my favorite works since. (Some folks may recognize this image hanging in the permanent collection at our good friend’s tea shop, Dobra Tea.) Working from the reticello design employed in glass art, the radiating lines are also remarkably similar to a mosaic found on a ceiling inside the actual Taj Mahal.
High Standing
High Standing was designed, printed and framed for a 2009 auction to benefit a great local access channel, CCTV. Though I haven’t spent much time in CCTV specifically, I have spent a great deal of time in the various community media outlets in the Champlain Valley and I absolutely think the world of the valuable services they provide us as citizens. With that in mind, be sure to support public access! (The actual image for the show was printed at 18″x24″ on Kodak Endura Metallic and conservation framed.)
Headquarters
Headquarters was designed, printed and framed for a 2008 showing at Burlington’s infamous night-club, The Red Square. The curator of the show, Adrienne Goulette, is a great friend and mentor who has been endlessly patient and helpful in teaching me the many tricks of proper framing and matting. I’m honored to have been included in one of Adrienne’s renowned annual Red Square shows! (The actual image for the show was printed at 18″x24″ on Kodak Endura Metallic and conservation framed.)
Room Dividers
Here’s a set of privacy screens (room dividers) that we put together from scratch. The pattern, designed in Illustrator, was printed on a synthetic satin material. The screens were then stretched on 18″x72″ frames and enclosed by hand-finished black framing. Drawing upon a wide range of crafts and skills, these dividers were a blast to design and build.
Melamine Plates
Here’s a set of melamine plates that were made in 2008. Manufactured with pride here in the United States, these rugged plates are light and comfortable yet completely durable and dependable. After two years of regular use and washing, the designs have yet to chip, fade or blemish in any way. Pretty amazing, eh?
Fletcher Free Library
Here’s some pictures from my show at the Fletcher Free Library a few years ago (2008, as I recall). The show afforded me an enormous space which swallowed even my largest works. The library also provided a large showcase for my private collection of glass pieces culled from ten years of working in the medium. It was definitely an honor to have my work in the library’s main mezzanine, and to affect the days of so many fine Burlington folk.
Glass Work
Here’s a set of photos taken of some of my favorite glass pieces. Having spent ten years in the medium, I learned a great deal about art, business and my own personal learning curve. I was also blessed with opportunities to work with some of glass art’s greatest luminaries such as Dale Chihuly, Josh Cohen, Joseph Benvenuto and many others. Glass is an ancient yet challenging medium and I look back fondly on my days working in the field.
Decals
Ranking near the top of my all-time favorite projects would have to be custom die-cut vinyl decals. I’ve produced a few for myself and a bunch more for my friend, Sam Fout. I’ve also built a huge collection of stickers over the years, finding it a totally fun and affordable way to collect art. Check out my decals below, and let’s hope more will be on the way soon!
